Short version: Jolt listens through your microphone only to recognize the sound you record to turn off an alarm, and that listening happens entirely on your phone. Nothing is ever uploaded, shared, or sold. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking.
To let you dismiss an alarm by making a real-world sound, Jolt needs the microphone. When you record a sound for an alarm, and when that alarm is ringing, Jolt analyzes the incoming sound on your device to detect your chosen sound.
Jolt saves a small mathematical "fingerprint" of each sound you record and your alarm settings (times, labels) in the app's private storage on your device. Raw audio is processed in the moment and is not retained. This data never leaves your phone, and is removed if you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Jolt offers optional one-time purchases to unlock more alarms. Any purchase is handled by Google Play; Jolt does not receive or store your payment details.
Microphone (recognize your sound), notifications and full-screen alarm display, vibration, wake lock, exact alarms, and re-arming alarms after a reboot. Each is used only to make the alarm work.
Jolt is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.
